Biography

Paul Ansell formed his band in 1993. They now have eleven Cds released.

On the rockabilly scene they are highly regarded and they have fans worldwide.

Paul’s musical influences are far and wide and his heros can be heard within his music, the music is fresh, it has a vibe, and it is well played, well thought out but most important, original and distinctive.

Paul over the years has worked with many of rock and rolls legends. At the top of his list has to be the great Scotty Moore, Elvis’ guitarist. Along the way, he has had pleasure of recording and play with masters such as Bob Moore, Reggie Young, David Briggs, Jerry Carrigan, Billy Swan, Mac Curtis, Young Jesse, Robert Gordon, Billy Lee Riley, Sonny Burges, DJ Fortuna and the list goes on…..

Over the years No9 has been made up of top  musicians  on the rock and roll rockin scene.

From there humble beginings in 1992 were they played as a trio featuring Matt jackson on guitar , and Nick gilroy on bass.This along with Ritchie Taylor was the line up on the first album.Drummer Gwyn griffiths plays on the second and third album.Cem baykara was 2nd guitar for a while and on next two albums.Then guitarist Malcom chapman took over on mood swings album along with new bassist Micky wigfall.This line also played on Countrified album.Then it  changed to Ricky hughes on drums, Mark pennington on bass and Tony coni on guitar.This line up stayed the same up to the Live at Sun album.

Now with a brand new line up, No9 is still a swinging little combo of hand picked  musicians that form and make the sound that gives Paul Ansell his sound.

BAND MEMBERS:

John Standen
Bassist for many years,for loads of original artists and new ones. Has played all around the world ,in musicals and on rnr shows...and is one of the best around on the dog house bass.

Paul Atkinson
Drummer for many bands, has played with Etta james, backed many artists as the Hemsby band drummer for many years and also in the great Playboys and Houseshakers.Along with many other great artists,british and american.

James Compton
Plays with Shakin stevens and Darts.Top session guy here in England for many years,and also involved in many past west end musicals.Based in London.
